Glossary of terms

Video Formats, eg .mov, avi - AVI is a multimedia container and stands for Audio Video Interleave. .mov is a Quicktime player file format. Video formats are a specification to define video signal.

Streaming - Streaming is mostly used to transmit video signals to share with others. JustinTV is a great example of a site that constantly streams video footage.

File compression - File compression is used to decrease the file size of a particular file or folder, it also decreases the quality of video and images.

Aspect ratios - Aspect ratios are the ratios of the width compared to the length, usually measured in cm or inches.

Frame rates - Frame rates are usually connected with moving pictures. The more frames per second, the smoother the video is.
